Self-Appreciation for University Students

Self-Appreciation for University Students
Background
All human beings naturally want to be acknowledged, appreciated, and heard. However, in reality, the opposite often happens — we are often unwilling to acknowledge, appreciate, and listen, even to ourselves. Therefore, it is very important for individuals to begin by knowing themselves before they can truly appreciate themselves and others. Forms of appreciation can be found in everyday life, whether among family members, neighbors within a community, or in broader social and professional environments.
We frequently encounter differing opinions during discussions, which over time may become increasingly conflicting, eventually creating unwanted tension. This often happens because each person's beliefs cannot effectively communicate and move in the same direction.
The Program
As a form of appreciation for the world of education, particularly for university students across Indonesia, BSL & Associates presented self-awareness training materials for students in Depok on April 27, 2014. The training, conducted by Bobby S. Laluyan as a coach, trainer, and mind block destroyer, was not only a gesture of appreciation for Indonesia's education sector, but also an act of giving to fellow human beings.
Unlike most training programs that are expensive and tend to be monotonous, the sessions conducted by BSL & Associates invited students to explore self-awareness and strengthen their life purpose in an engaging way, while remaining affordable. This initiative aimed to enhance self-awareness and personal development within the education sector.
Self-Awareness and Growth
It is essential for individuals to know themselves. When someone is able to truly understand themselves, they will gradually discover their beliefs, which then shape their values. Listening is one form of self-appreciation toward others, as it strengthens belief and helps eliminate unnecessary denial.
In today's world, excessive egoism without strong values often becomes a serious challenge. Many people want to be heard but are unwilling to listen, want to be appreciated but are reluctant to appreciate others. These attitudes can be transformed through self-awareness and self-appreciation, which in turn shape beliefs and encourage mutual respect, understanding, and empathy.
